Your Mama received greetings from my cousin, Lincoln, who lives in Honolulu. He sent me some precious photos of Honolulu, the way it was, you know, like when Elvis filmed “Blue Hawaii.” Mama discovered many years later that some of you military brats made the islands your home for a few years, so you may have remembered Honolulu in the 60’s and early 70’s. And certainly, as local residents of the islands, our parents saw all the changes.

Go here and scroll down a bit. You’ll see the old Honolulu Stadium and the beginning of the building boom in the islands with the start of the freeway system, thanks to Henry Keohouhou and Brothers who helped build modern Honolulu. Kama’aina or malahini, Mama is sure you’ll appreciate these photos. Thanks cousin Lincoln, for the memories. As he said, “Life was a lot simpler then.”

WHO WE HEARD FROM
Del Matheus (Class of 1962) must have read The Blog last week, while in Kona. Del wrote:

“Sandy and I were in Kona for the tsunami. We had to leave our condo for the Keauhou Shopping Center. It was very festive, with everyone waiting and watching for a big wave. Civil Defense was very well done. Always better to be safe than sorry.

Saw Stretch Watson at Costco yesterday. Didn't have much time to talk, but he looks good.”

Thanks for the heads up, Del. Kona is so laid back with a lot fewer people and roads. And they have the best Wendy’s in the world with that view of the bay. We read Dan Mickel’s comment about the traffic and the hoarding. It is an island and there used to be a lot of shipping strikes when we were kids. The joke was, “Use the Sear’s catalog as toilet paper!” Now, you gotta pay for the Sear’s catalog.

Rollie and I always thought we lived in the ideal place if a big tsunami really hit the islands. We lived about 4 miles from the airport (which we could see from our back yard), in the heights just below Camp Smith and about 600 ft above sea level. We figured the Aloha Stadium would be swamped along with Pearlridge Mall and Pearl Harbor, but we would be just fine. Of course, the infrastructure would be totally destroyed, so we would have no electricity (generating stations are located near the ocean along with shipping docks) and much of the road system of Honolulu would be gone with the waves.

Instead, we traded it for snow ice and an occasional tornado! Hey, it’s been 40 degrees all last week and high 40’s in the next week. Slow melts are good because the Red River Valley floods nearly every year! Good to see the stores and malls full of people.

Aloha til the next update.

ABOUT THAT TSUNAMI & EARTHQUAKES

Jan Smith Olivas emailed me early in the morning. I usually have my radio on, but didn’t. She wrote about the tsunami due to hit Hawaii from the 8.8 earthquake in Chile. Heck with getting online, I went straight to the source: my cousin who lives in Hawaii Kai, about a half mile from the ocean. She laughed and said she was thinking of going back to bed. She also laughed as she had heard that Costco had a run on toilet paper, water and rice, in that order. Her husband was laughing in the background. She said, no worry and gas is $3.09 at Costco in Iwelei. I tuned in online to KITV and KHON. They had live video going.

Those of you who were in the islands in 1964 remember the tsunami that was caused by the Alaskan earthquake that devasted Hilo with loss of lives. You probably recall many tsunami alerts while at Radford, but nothing came of those. Those of you living in the islands recall the 1975 Hilina Slump, where the shelf of newly formed volcanic activity dropped 11.5 feet and slid 26 feet towards the ocean causing a 7.2 magnitude earthquake and 48 high foot tsunami in the Punalu’u section of the Big Island (America’s southern most bakery) and loss of life and property destruction.

I’m glad my cousin could laugh about it and relax. She thought about filling up her cars with gas (which everyone else was doing), but she said, just how many times can she drive around O’ahu on one tank of gas?

At the same time I was laughing, I was also feeling sorrow for the victims in Santiago and Concepcion, Chile. True, the entire Pacific edge is known as the Ring of Fire, with frequent volcanic activity and earthquakes. Haiti was devastated just a few weeks ago, but their loss of life is just staggering, over 300,000.

Thank goodness for Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia, which manages to supply so much reliable information on just about every topic. It’s also a who’s who. I was surprised how quickly the earthquake story was updated on Saturday. Don’t know about Wiki? Go here.

WHO WE HEARD FROM
We heard from Kay Shoemaker Matney once more. Kay must be enjoying her substitute teaching. She sent Mama some stories or kids say the darndest things especially as many of us are grandparents. check them out on the right sidebar.

THE SNOW, THE SNOW!
Your Mama cannot take credit for the snow storm that hit the Northeast and Sharon Nakamoto Bower’s estate in Westchester, New York. We had only a trace of snow. The high pressure kept us snowless. This time, Sharon, you can blame Iowa and Nebraska! Today, it’s sunny, in the upper 30’s and the snow is melting. In the 40’s next week! Mama is happy to give our classmate friends on the East Coast some nice, sunny weather. And, all the Grumpy Old Men fish houses have to be off Minnesota lakes today! Only 19 more days til Spring!

OCTOBER REUNION
If you are coming, tell Mama! Email your WebMama here. We’re eagerly awaiting the island classmates or anyone else who want to join The Grind and the Class of 1963 at this one big banquet. The Grind is letting The Class of 1963 into the program too. The banquet is open to anyone who went to Radford or Aiea High Schools. We’re not picky, we welcome everyone we call a classmate.

Aloha till the next update!

Did your honey treat you to something special? Did your grandkids, nephews and nieces cover you with roses (ferget about the hubby, huh?)? Did you go and see “Avatar?” Thankfully I went to see “Valentine’s Day!” Mama did see “Avatar” in Imax and 3D a few days later. It should have clued me in at the beginning that James Cameron, film maker of the “Terminator 1 & 2” and “Titanic,” would blow everything up in the end. He always does! Sorry, still think that “Up” was the best picture I’ve seen all year. “Star Trek” came in a close second. But I also liked “The Blind Side.”

WHO CHECKED IN
Harriet Watts Benavidez wrote Mama that she is coming to the 65 & Alive Reunion in October. Harriet also wrote about her love of li hing mui powder. Whether you came from the mainland or were local, you gotta admit li hung mui was your favorite to suck on. Believe me, it’s put on kettle popcorn, on rice, on mango, on Spam! I grew up on the stuff, but after so many years away from the islands, Mama lost her taste for it although my Mama mailed it to me. Well, Harriet still loves the island flavors and we both like saimin in any form! I could use a bowl of saimin right now because it’s 27 degrees! My love of Spam knows no boundaries!

Talked to Arlene late last week. She is sounding and feeling so much better. Arlene is working on her stamina, cuz she intends to keep up and leave us in the dust when the Usual Bunch of Idiots return to Las Vegas in October.

Also talked to Jane Coley Rigby. Lyman is doing super well and no more chemo for three months til his next checkup. Great news!!

ABOUT THE GRIND GUYS
It started years ago with some RadGrads who lived in Southern California. Graduating from Radford kept them together. Some were related, some from different graduating classes. Mama first heard about them in 2003 when Ernie Onaka said that a bunch of them get together from time to time. The group included Ernie, Clint and Alroy Liu, Dan Maka’ena and Diane and Rodney Kamali’i and his brothers and her sister; sometimes Hank Rabago would join in. Ernie was always good about sending me pictures of the guys having fun. The Class of 63 was the last class from Aiea Intermediate that went to Radford. If you had younger brothers or sisters, they went on to Aiea High. Many of us from Aiea (that’s your WebMama) were given the option of going to Aiea High School as sophomores. We declined and stayed to graduate from Radford.

At the Class of ’63 2008 Reunion in Honolulu, Clint Liu and I sat together at the Hale Koa lu’au and he told me more about The Grind and that I had to come and join them when they get together again in Vegas. That first official Grind Get-Together did happen October 2009. After that success, the Guys and Gals of The Grind decided to hold a get-together every year, same time, same place -- always at the California Hotel. For those of you with short memories, go here, here and here to catch up with The Grind’s last reunion (thanks to Clint Liu and Ernie Onaka for all dah pikcha’s).

When we discussed the Class of 63‘s 65 & Alive Reunion in January with Alroy Liu and Ernie Onaka (thanks for setting that up, Ernie), we discussed the possibility of combining our reunion with The Grind’s. The guys graciously said it made sense especially since so many RadGrad63 classmates showed up at The Grind banquet last October. So, yes, we are guests of The Grind. The guys are giving us some time and space at their banquet and we will play by their rules. The Grind will set the agenda and the banquet fees -- The Class of 63 gets to sit together and have a small part of the program. In addition, The Class of 63 will get together for separate fun, cocktails and meals like we always have when we turned 50, 55, and 60 years old.

Your Mama will be posting ALL the names of The Grind
attendees right here as they become available from
Diane Kamali’i or Alroy Liu. The list at right has the names
of Class of 63 classmates who emailed your Mama that
they will be attending. So, keep those emails coming.
Get in touch with your Mama here. Or, you can leave a
note below in the comments. It’s easy, try it!

My granddaughter, Sadie, saw me with The Grind T-shirt
and wanted to wear it, so here’s a pic of the littlest
Grind gal. Oh yeah, that’s my dog, Sophie, who liked
to lay on the shirt! Um, that’s Sophie before her haircut.

Aloha til the next update.

Perhaps we should take all the snow from the lower 48 and truck it up to Vancouver! They need it! Yes, Mama and her fam are enjoying the competition. Mama has been to Vancouver two times, both times when our daughter was little and we fell in love with the city back then. Looks like another road trip for this family! What are your favorite events? I love to watch the speed skating and the mogul skiing.

WHO WE HEARD FROM
Kay Shoemaker Matney sent a very nice note to Mama. She’s semi-retired right now, but also works as a substitute teacher in both elementary and middle schools in her area, which is Virginia. They had a lot of snow to give away!

The good news from Kay is that she has found her best friend from Radford, Linda Kirkhorn, who lives in Berkley, California. Of all places, they met on Facebook! How exciting is that?
Please send pictures when you get together in
person, Kay!

Kay also sent a picture of her family from last Christmas.
My, those grandkids have grown. Mama recalls that
after the 2003 reunion, Kay sent baby pics of the littlest
grandson, Conner, now he’s 6. Her son, Jesse,
works for an organic company. He met with the ladies
from “The View” on ABC this past Friday.

We also heard from Sharon Nakamoto Bower.
She said that Mama was so kind to send her more
snow. This past week, she decided to stay home
because it was raining snow all over Westchester
County! I reminded Sharon that the Twin Cities had
about 8 inches of snow over 3 days. Not so bad for
us, bad for her!

Lonnie Hysong sent a note. Lonnie and Wynn
English are coming to the 2010 Reunion in October.
Arlene and Mama say that Lonnie always get the
gorgeous girls, because Wynn is a pretty special
woman and very attractive and warm. Some of you may
recall Wynn from the 2008 reunion in Honolulu.

Lonnie was also kind enough to send Mama a note about omitting Frank Rodriguez from the Classmates Gone section of the website. I updated the Classmates Gone with Carol Buckingham’s passing and must have deleted a photo I wasn’t supposed to. Sometimes Mama is not operating on all cylinders at 7 am on Sunday mornings! It’s good that he told me about it. I always appreciate those heads up notes.

Now, Lonnie has upgraded to Firefox, because both The Blog and The Website are optimized to run on FireFox or Safari, not Internet Explorer, which is slow and sometimes mangles code written on an Apple Mac Pro. In fact, Mama routinely uses Firefox on all 4 of my computers. Yes, Mama is ashamed to say she has 4 computers running in her office.

Now, all we need from Lonnie is a bio! He’s had many
experiences we hope he will share with us all!

Also got a package in the mail from Ernie Onaka. You
recall that the Idiots met with Ernie Onaka and Alroy Liu
at a funky restaurant in Lakewood, California called the
Hawaiian Loft. Ernie sent a T-shirt to your Mama. It’s all
about the Grind. Mama will read more bedtime stories
to you children about the Grind next week. Mama took
a picture of herself with the T-shirt on, cuz Ernie like
see ‘um. So, here is your Mama in front of her house
that has 3 feet of snow. Man, it was cold, like 23 degrees
out there! I need some trees! My friends get a laugh
because I live on Glacier Road!

And finally, if you’re coming to the Reunion, please
email your Mama or leave a comment below. The
dates are Oct. 10-14, 2010. The banquet is on Tuesday,
October 12 at The California. We’ll be getting together
for other meals at different restaurants and maybe some
trip events. My bruddah from the Class of 1961 said he’s
coming! Uh, oh, a bunch of Lees in one room ought to
be fun! Howard’s going to tell us what it’s like to be
retired and how much fun it will be to be on Medicare!

Til the next update, aloha from your Mama!
Yes, children, I hear your grief. It’s been snow for our classmates in the Southeast and Atlantic Coast, who are practically up to their keesters in record snow. You could have the Southern California curse of rain, snow, mighty landslides too! Here, in the upper Midwest, we are bracing for, uhm, 2 inches. Of course, Mama and Rollie were out early this morning, shopping for the basement. My husband takes me shopping at Home Depot.

CAROL BUCKINGHAM
Mama has been trying to find several classmates since we split from Radford. One of them was a very good friend, Carol Buckingham. Stan Sumner (’64) and Mama remember her well as one of the mover and shakers in Art Club and art class with Mrs. Elsie Abreu. We had many gossip sessions about everyone, laughed about so many things, including lovable Stan. Juju aka Barbara Perry was Carol’s best pal. I just got word that Carol passed away on August 3, 2009 in France. She had been living in England for a few years. I hope her family and friends know that she was one of our most beloved classmates and someone I miss dearly.

WHO WE HEARD FROM
Dan Mickel sent an email that he is still in Kailua with wife, Carolyn, and will be there for a while longer, maybe he’ll be home in time to send off his income taxes! Lucky Handsome Dan!

Mama had a long talk with Arlene last week. She is back in the Portland area, back home and enjoying a normal life once more. Move the treadmill, get that new computer hooked up, cuz, girl, you’re missing an awful lot. In case any of you are wondering, Arlene rarely sends email and she almost never answers any. When I do email her, I get one word answers, like “Yes” or “No.” Maybe an occasional address. But she is grateful for all the cards, letters and notes everyone has sent over the past few months. She says Sharon Nakamoto Bower is so good about sending thoughtful notes and wonderful photos. Good job, Sharon!

SUPER BOWL SUNDAY
Sorry, children, your Mama doesn’t want to talk about the SuperBowl. Mama is still speechless since that team and a quarterback who remains unnamed, because it just will not roll off my tongue, lost a game they could have won. Yes, this family is suffering from severe football depression. Well, mmm, a tear is rolling off my contact lenses.

Aloha til the next update when my football depression will be over.
Yo’ Mama is afraid to look at the thermometer this morning!
Ah, it’s 4 degrees! Heat wave! Hopefully, this is the last of the
frigid weather and on to 20’s and 30’s this week. Mama reads
the news, you know, so we noticed that all our classmates
living down south in Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, North and
South Carolina got blasted with a bit of Minnesota weather.
Only thing different, is we have snow plows. Hope you all are
warming up. Our house is always a warm 73 degrees.

THE LAS VEGAS REUNION
Yes, children, Mama is starting to publicize the reunion
to celebrate when we’re all eligible for Medicare! Time
for celebrating our entry into Medicare and just being
alive and well in 2010. We think the first of our class
to celebrate turning 65 and fully eligible is our girl,
Cathie Parks. The Idiots celebrated her birthday
while in Anaheim. At left, Cathie toasts with a glass
of wine with her new friend, Warren Schuft. Warren
is part of our extended family--he’s our son-in-law’s
father, who sometimes travels with us. Warren is a
game guy -- he even wears Viking purple (Mama
does not want to talk about THAT game last week).
We all had fun at the bar and in the restaurant celebrating
a lot of things, but celebrating Cathie’s birthday was pretty
special too!

WHO DID WE HEAR FROM?
Good old Hank Fujioka keeps forwarding stuff to your Mama. Heard from Jane Coley Rigby, who is just back from M.D. Anderson in Houston, that husband Lyman is cancer-free right now. Lyman has been battling lung cancer since summer 2008. Lots of chemo and radiation and feeling rotten. Mama had a talk with Lyman. He remains optimistic and still going to work. The feds owned up that Agent Orange, during Lyman’s tour in Vietnam, is the likely cause.

Heard from Dan Mickel, who is back in Texas after a long stay with
classmate and wife, Carolyn Leavitt Cloutier, in Honolulu.
Dan reports that he’s getting together with Peter Bertulfo, who
was in our class, but transfered his senior year to Wahiawa (Leilehua?).
He’s also getting together with Robert Dezsy, who Mama
remembers well with all that curly hair! Dan is becoming the guy
version of Lunch with Arlene!

Also heard from Jan Smith Olivas, back in Santa Barbara and
doing her civic volunteering and hosting parties in a kitchen to
die for. Mama was going through some pictures from our vacation.
Here’s one I found of my granddaughter, Sadie Schuft, walking
hand-in-hand with Jan down Disneyland’s Main Street. Sadie had
a sleepover yesterday and she mentioned she liked holding Jan’s
hand. She felt safe. Awwwww!

Also heard from Ernie Onaka, who is our link to The Grind. We are
meshing our October reunion with the Grind in Vegas.
Thanks for all your help, Ernie!

Finally, when it’s cold in the upper Midwest, thoughts come to your Mama about life in the islands. So warm, so fragrant, so colorful, so many good beaches. Classmates, like Dan Mickel, get to go back frequently, but he has a terrific excuse. Carolyn. My husband, Rollie, says he misses waking up in the morning, stepping outside barefoot to let the dog out, and feeling the warmth. I do miss the colors and fragrance. Maybe it was because of that plumeria tree in our yard. Right now, I look across the back yard and it’s covered with about 3 feet of white stuff. The pond is frozen. And there’s snowmobile tracks elsewhere. Ask Mary Anderson Weeks if she misses Kula, Maui. I think she will tell you the warmth of the islands is pretty special. But we all adapt to our new surrounding. Mary has embraced the winter with winter actitivities. Like Mary, I’ve adapted even though a lot of Minnesotans I’ve met think I’m nuts. Sadie is what keeps me here. Our soon-to-be born grandson (we’re calling him Junior right now) will help us remain.

Ha!Ha! From the time your WebMama landed til the
moment we left, the storm of the century in Southern
California went nutso on us. But that never stopped the
three Idiots, Cathie Parks, Jan Smith Olivas and your
Mama from having a super great time in Disneyland parkas!
Rain, wind, tornadoes never stop the Idiots, who had to
improvise. We saw the South Coast Plaza Mall flood,
elevators get stuck, Disneyland close due to flooding on
Main Street and other good things. Mama wore her winter
Crocs, so her socks never got wet, but, wet jeans, hats
and coats! We just ducked in and enjoyed a longer than
usual lunch, went to see “The Blind Side” (highly
recommended) and lots of time in the bar!

We also met Alroy Liu (Class of 62) and Ernie Onaka at
the Hawaiian Loft Restaurant in Lakewood and shared a
couple of hours of fun, laughter, business plus some
saimin, laulau, two scoop rice and mac salad. Ernie
arranged the meeting so we could discuss some of the
details of the October 2010 Reunion in Las Vegas. At right,
Ernie, Jan, Cathie, Cyndi and Alroy. We discussed
and caught up with classmates many wondered about or
lost touch in the almost 50 years of saying good-bye. We
received a recent picture of Beverly Sunn, who has had
many inquiries. Bev runs her own commercial real estate
company in Hong Kong and gets back to the islands to visit
with family. She looks fabulous!

Many thanks to Alroy and Ernie for hosting and making the
Idiots feel so welcome and at home. The Class of ‘63‘s 65
and Alive Reunion is bouncing along. We’ll start adding
names to a list next week of all those RadGrads63 attending.
We will also put up the list of The Grind Attendees when it
becomes available. There will be a banquet.

ARLENE BACK IN SAN FRANCISCO
Last Monday, as we were leaving a mall in Orange, California,
Arlene called your Mama to tell all that she would be returning
to San Francisco that day to complete a surgery later in the week.
So, by now, Arlene should be on the mend and hopefully, back in
Oregon this week. The girl has been through much, so we are
grateful that this is the last hurdle before she can resume her
life like a normal person, except she’s gotta take a lotta pills to
keep her healthy and the transplant last a whole lotta years.

Arlene also told your Mama that she spent Christmas in SF with
a whole lotta classmates from the Class of 1965, including
Peter Von Weigandt. We’re really thankful that those young ‘uns
took care of our girl and made her feel right at home. We hope
to see many of them at the October 2010 Reunion.

WHO ELSE WE HEARD FROM
Heard from Jan Maynard Maggio, who could not join the
Idiots in Anaheim, but told us a bit about Karen Grimes
Saunders and the passing of her dad in San Diego. Our
heartfelt condolences to Karen.

We heard from Harriet Watts Benavidez, who was also to join us
in Anaheim, but had to attend a funeral of a beloved uncle in
the islands. He was the oldest in the family at 87. He was very
proud that he served with the 442nd in WWII (Uncle Sam Oshiro
also joined with him, but did not make it back.) He had Aunt
Ruthie, 3 children and two grandchildren---a happy and fulfilled
life.

Finally, we heard from Mary Anderson Weeks, who lives in
southern Washington state. Mary is an active senior and she
sent a great picture of herself on a snowmobile, something she
enjoys doing during those cold winter months. Mama notices
that Mary is on a Polaris snowmobile, proudly made in Minnesota!
Mary is married to RadGrad62 Tom Weeks.

Leave a comment below. It’s easy! Aloha til the next update.

It’s been cold, but everywhere has been cold. We get a little cold weather and we blow it East, right into Sharon Nakamoto Bower’s New York! Sharon and your Mama have been emailing each other furiously over the past week, about the weather, about mo’ pictures about the infamous sexy picture of the local gang of girls when they aren’t doing anything
in Las Vegas. To refresh your memory, go here and
scroll down to you come to that Oh My! pic.

Today, it’s all about Sharon who sent some very cool
pictures of the Bower’s trip to France for wine and
friendship. But first, a pic of Tom and Sharon in their
patio in NY. Second is Sharon in her friend’s vineyard.
Third is an infamous pic of Sharon at the new Yankee
stadium. Oh heavens, now your Mama is gonna have to
have a picture taken at the new Twins stadium when
they try to have a snowless and iceless game in April!

Right below, Sharon sent a photo of her friend’s cave
where there is some serious wine tasting, all from their
own vineyards. Actually, I am very interested in le
frommage sur le table. Please reveal, Sharon, as Mama
loves cheese (Hey, I lived in Wisconsin for 12 years!),
including the moldy kind.

As I was relaxing one morning enjoying my Spam light on a
bagel (pumpernickel, always pumpernickel, mmm, ono stuff),
I get an email from Sharon about (gasp) Macademia Nut
Spam. We local girls always knew Spam went with everything,
musubi, sushi, saimin, in mac salad, with eggs, you get the
picture. Take a look at this island treat below and go to this
Iink and investigate. Then blame Sharon for introducing us
to such cravings!

WHO ELSE CHECKED IN?
WebMama heard from Jan Smith Olivas, Cathie Parks, Jan Maynard Maggio and Harriet Watts Benavidez. We’re actually having another Idiot get-together starting Monday, Jan. 17 at Disneyland, when we gather by the pool for another Usual Bunch of Idiots get-together. Our last meeting was in San Francisco as we invaded Arlene Stout William’s hotel room a couple of months after her lung transplant and had way too much, over-the-top fun. Arlene said she would join us at Disneyland, but have not heard from her.

Also heard from Jane Coley Rigby. Jane has been on your Mama’s mind since Christmas. Jane also had a few things on her mind, about work and husband Lyman. As we all know, chemo is debilitating for a while and Lyman hasnt been feeling his usual self during the holidays. But, he’s just about through another round and is feeling better and still going to work.

If you live in Southern California and would like to meet the Idiots in
Anaheim, please email your Mama ASAP and I’ll send you the details!

So, Mama won’t be updating the Blog until after I return from SoCal.
And don’t forget the October 2010 Reunion in Las Vegas!
Till the next udate on January 24, aloha from your WebMama.

Oh, it’s frozen up here! -12 this morning. Thanks to all
concerned classmates. As I told them, I haven’t been
out of the house since Friday night. The house furnace
and car heater work just fine. Gotta love Toyotas!
It’ll warm up soon. I think.

GREETINGS FROM CLASSMATES
Thanks to Cathie Parks, Jan Smith Olivas, Arlene
Stout Williams, Sally McCready Dunn, Dave Bartlett,
Hank Fujioka for sending Mama greetings and photos.
At right, You gotta love Cathie Parks in the pink jeep.
Sally sent a new picture of her granddaughter,
Shannon and grandson Kelton here.

HENRY’S PARTY
And then, there was the annual Henry Keohouhou Christmas Party held in Waikele at Ho-Ho’s Chinese restaurant. Joji Oshima sent your Mama these pictures of 51 classmates. I recognize Roland Agbanlog, Twinkles Reitmeister, Hank Fujioka, Vernon Sanchez, Lloyd Marshall. Jan Nakama Kobashigawa, Gordon Miyasato, Keohouhou’s back and a few others. Good to see the guys and gals get together once more. Henry is a gracious host. We have much to learn from this generous man.

Another decade gone by! And what a decade it was.
It was the best of times; it was the worst of times. The
important thing is that we all survived, and that we can
only hope that we will survive another decade together!

The Best of times were our reunions! In 2000-2009, the Mighty Class of ’63 met for 5 reunions, both in Honolulu, Las Vegas and Maui. And did we have fun, thanks to the past Reunion Committee.

And, here’s new reunion news:

65 and STILL ALIVE REUNION!
Where: Las Vegas Nevada, California Hotel
When: October 11-14, 2010
Why: Because we all get Medicare and are still here on god’s mighty earth! Start planning now, because we are hanging out with The Grind Guys and Gals!
From time to time, we’ll be posting news about the October 2010 Reunion as well as attendees. If you’re planning on coming, Email your Mama! If you want to bring friends and family, do so. If you know someone from the class not on email, please tell them, because there will be NO mailing notice for this reunion.
